Our Initiatives
Making a difference through targeted programs and support
Alhamdulillah, the board currently provides the following services:
- Spiritual and Moral Developement
- Character building
- Islamic Educational Courses
- Pre-release
- Training workshops for Officials and Spiritual care-workers
- Co-ordinating spiritual care work in all correctional centres where muslim inmates are housed in the Eastern Cape
- These workers counsel muslim inmates and impart islamic knowledge to them
- Special Ramadhaan arrangements are made with authorities of the correctional services to allow inmates a separate room room to facilitate for Sehri, iftar, taraweeh and other spiritual acts
- Arranging programs for offenders on speccial islamic occasions
- Prayer mats, topis, tasbeehs and other islamic literature are distributed for free to muslim inmates
- Material aid and aftercare services to families of inmates
- Special eid programs including the distribution of food
- Facilitation of halaal meals in prison
- Sehri and iftaar provided for inmates during ramadhaan
- Educational programs conducted on a regular basis
- Arranging salaah facilities in prisons
- Rehabilitation of and facilitating integration of inmates after they are released
- Conveying programs of perolees or recently discharged from prison
And they provide food, out of his love, to the destitute, the orphan and the prisoner (Quran 76:8)
